Microsoft update for Internet Explorer flaw

Microsoft has issued an advisory to solve problems which cropped up in Internet Explorer after the installation of a new security patch. Complaints had come in from many users that Internet Explorer was crashing after the installation of the patch. Others were unable to access the Internet with the browser closing down automatically.

MS has now said in its post on the MS Knowledge Base site that users can solve the problem by making changes in the Windows registry. The problem is only present in certain custom installations of Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP, it said.

Meanwhile, several users found that the problem disappeared after the patch was uninstalled. However, the patch name MS07-069 is significant update since it fixed four other flaws in Internet Explorer.
