Is cricket is the only sport inIndia???
In india, Most of them are fans of cricket. The origin of cricket is England but now the world’s richest cricket club is BCCI(Board of Control of cricket in India). From this, we know how india is so crazy about Cricket. Our national sport is hockey but all the people not thinking about this game. Because of this, there is no recognition got by the Hockey players. But in cricket, If the indian cricketer played few games , then he quickly get sponsors and easily recognize by all. Because of not concentrated on hockey, now India not entered in to the Beijing olympics. This is not fair. I dont know why Indians are always like cricket. Is cricket is the only sport in India????

i agree with the view’s of Naresh on the question that os cricket the the only sport in India? i am a resident of ludhiana where these days a hockey tournament is running in which most of the international hockey players and olympions are participating. but it is sad to say there is hardly a hundred people come to watch the matches. it could be due to great hot session. but the obvious is that we all know that the people do not like the national game more than cricket. the city players and coaches, school sports teachers and some of veterans just come to watch the match of national level. it is looking just the formality to organize th tournamrnt here. the tournament is the first after the olympics qualifier tournament.

Do you get oppurtunity to play hockey around your home?? Do u have hockey bat?? ball?? but i do get more oppurtunity to play cricket even if it is my terrace and i have cricket bat,can play with tennis ball with ease and not like hockey ball. I can buy tennis ball giving 25Rs but i cant buy hockey ball easily. Why the hell we have hockey a national game instead cricket. why the hell you ppl show regression in cricket and pretend liking hockey. Have you ever bothered to regret Indian cricket team playing a final match in any series and watch hockey??
If you feel this is not fair , you go and sponcer hockey players and dont degrade cricket,cricket players and cricket lovers.

I am not talking about your interest in cricket. I asking general… Taking australlia as an example; There national game is cricket.. But they are well in all sports… They are in the third place in the olympic games. Because of cricket, our government not concentrated in other sports… think this

You may like cricket. Millions of other people may like cricket too.
But so much money is being poured into the game that cricketing talent as such has been pushed to the background. Total commercialization of cricket has led to ppl believing that all talent lies only in cricket, while you cant be further from the truth.Even when India continues to lose a string of matches, the money continues to pour in. We have seen instances of laymen indulging in stone-throwing as well as idol worshiping. Why this excessive emotion is all we ask?We are not against cricket per se.
It is not like the Indian hockey team is not talented. They are regularly winning tournaments abroad. We don’t want you to like hockey. All we ask is for a more fair distribution of resources to other sports too. So that we can exhibit our talent in those sports as well.

As usual nothing will change, nothing. I beleive no other game will reach the height of cricket in India.

@Hari, your right about the cricket resources you get & hockey things you don’t get. But the point is why our govt concentrating only on cricket not our national game HOCKEY.
Arguments never end. Guys ask questions like ”why not concentrating on hockey or other game” but not like ”why concentrating on cricket and not on hockey or others”.
Anyways both will be unanswered untill we shine in olympics for which government must take a big part in helping players. Sadly, its like a deadlock situation. or may be Indian govt needs Naresh, Rachel, Srividhya to make India shine in other games other than cricket.
It does need supporters, yes. Atleast you got something right, finally. But as long as detractors exist, it is all the more difficult to turn the attention away from cricket.
Yeah it is really difficuilt . No body came forward to popularize IPL(hockey league) but now Vijay, Nayan previously SRK, Priety adds up craze to IPL(cricket).

yeah! ur right , too much useless attention is being given to this sport that other similar interesting sports like hocky, footballetc..watching a cricket game itself takes from 7-8 hours ,unlike other sports like basketball,football,hockey. all these sports dont consume more than 70-90mins and everyone get;s an equally important role to play in it.moreover these can be played in short limited areas but cricket combined with stardom,money,media attracts a lot of viewrship, not at all good for the country!
