Fastest chip from IBM

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
IBM has launched dual-core POWER6, the world’s fastest computer chip, in India. The chip will power IBM’s System 570 and Blade Center JS22 servers. According to IBM engineers, the chip ensures “unparalleled power savings” on mid-range servers.

It will reduce the energy meant to power and cool data centers by over 50 per cent and would thus be part of IBM’s Project Green Initiative. At 4.7GHZ, POWER6 has double the speed of POWER5,but would use only the same amount of power. This would also help Indian entrepreneurs who are budget-conscious to increase their performance without increasing power bills.
